Manhattan Livestock Commission Co. • Manhattan, KSA large crowd braved 14 degree weather to attend the 17th Annual River Creek Farms Production Sale at the Manhattan Commission Company. River Creek's breeding program of calving ease, performance and carcass merit produced another set of thick, moderate framed bulls well received by new and repeat customers. 75 % of the bulls went to repeat buyers. High selling honors went to Lot 7, RC Preferred Beef 041S by SRS J914 Preferred Beef. Longtime repeat buyer Steve Blackledge , Chetopa, KS purchased this homozygous black bull for $4600. Lot 7 epd's rank in the breed's top 25% for low BW, MCE, Milk and MWW. Second high selling bull was Lot 18 , RC Primestar 155S by KS Primestar M120. New buyer Bud Schaub, Princeton, KS purchased this bull for $4300. Lot 18 recorded the high yearling weight (1498#), high ADG (4.67) and high ribeye (18.33) of the purebred bulls. His REA epd of 0.61 ranks him in the breed's top 1%.
